A New Step for Open: The Candidate National EOSC Node Enters the EOSC Federation Expansion Phase

With the endorsement of the candidate EOSC Node from North Macedonia in the second wave of the EOSC Federation expansion, our country is taking an important step towards stronger integration into the European open science landscape.

This process is not only about joining a European infrastructure. It is also an opportunity to further develop a national system in which research data, digital services, repositories, expertise, and institutional capacities are better connected, more visible, and more accessible to the research community.

In this context, nosci.mk acts as a national initiative that brings together efforts to advance open science in North Macedonia. By connecting relevant institutions, infrastructures, and expert communities, the initiative contributes to building a shared foundation for alignment with European practices, standards, and policies within EOSC.

The candidate EOSC Node of North Macedonia is being developed through cooperation between nosci.mk, the Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering at Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, and the Open Science Centre at UKIM. Within this cooperation, the Faculty provides technical expertise and infrastructure support, while the Open Science Centre contributes to organisational implementation, capacity building, and the development of competences for research data management and the practical application of open science principles.

Through this development, our country has an opportunity to strengthen its presence in European open science initiatives, improve the visibility and connectivity of national research resources, and create better conditions for sharing, reusing, and managing research data. For more information, please visit:
